Kilkenny Hurlers give their advice to kids that love the sport

All star Kilkenny hurlers Paul Murphy and TJ Reid have spent years developing their skills and their love of GAA. Their passion for GAA started at home and they took every opportunity to practice in their local club too. While listening to TJ and Paul’s advice, it’s clear that practicing and having a ‘never giving up’ attitude plays a huge role in the success story of Kilkenny GAA.

As parents we want to encourage outdoor play and what better to way to get your children away from the TV or ipad by spending some time everyday playing their favourite sport. The video below will show your kids how TJ and Paul started out and how they felt as kids playing GAA.

TJ grew up on a farm and loved being outdoors so he found practicing at home easy. He said all you really need is the ball, a hurl and a wall to perfect your technique. What was interesting to hear Paul say was that they weren’t the best hurlers when they were young, there was always someone older and better than them. Through dedication and practice they became Senior All-Ireland Hurling Champions
