Gallagher further invests in Ireland with major rebranding project
23 September 2024: Leading global insurance broker Gallagher is further expanding its services and brand in Ireland by moving a significant number of First Ireland customers to its parent brand. Since launching in Ireland in 2022, Gallagher has expanded through a number of acquisitions, and organic growth, and is now one of the largest insurance brokers in the country with offices in Dublin, Limerick, Kilkenny, Wexford, Kerry and Tipperary.
First Ireland was acquired by Gallagher last year and provides a range of commercial and personal lines insurance, plus life and pensions products to its client base of over 35,000 businesses and individuals. As from today, business insurance customers and clients with life and pensions products will move to the Gallagher brand and will benefit from its wealth of knowledge and insight from its wider teams operating in these markets. The move will include First Ireland’s range of business insurance products such as commercial combined, combined liability, professional indemnity plus motor fleet, and will also apply to First Ireland’s life and pensions offering which provides advice and solutions across four key areas: protection, pensions and retirement, group risk and group pensions plus financial planning.
Going forward, the First Ireland brand will be used exclusively for customers with motor, home, travel and pet insurance policies.
Clients will continue to be supported with insurance and risk management services by the same team that know and understand their business, whilst benefitting from trading under the Gallagher brand, closer access to its 52,000 strong employee base and their in-depth and wide-ranging specialist knowledge.
Whilst Gallagher is a global company, it has its roots in Ireland. The company was founded in Chicago in 1927 by Arthur J. Gallagher whose father emigrated from Limerick to the USA in the late 19th century. To this day, the company continues to be run by the Gallagher family, with Pat Gallagher currently Chairman and CEO.
Ronan Foley, CEO of Gallagher in Ireland, said: “This is a further exciting step in our ambitious growth plans for Gallagher in Ireland.
“Our business has gone from strength to strength since launching in 2022 and our expert teams continue to be committed to delivering for our clients and supporting them with the risks and challenges that they face. Looking ahead, this announcement brings colleagues together under the Gallagher brand as we embark on the next phase of our plans in Ireland. We will continue to focus on becoming the broker of choice for clients seeking to partner with a business that has ambition as well as a global reach and local focus.”
