The Division
Financial Services is a progressive, award-winning division within First Ireland. It is a busy and vibrant team orientated environment. Our primary focus is to help clients to set their objectives, achieve their goals and make good financial decisions now and in the future.
First Ireland have recently been acquired by Gallagher Ireland, part of the Arthur J Gallagher Group, one of the largest insurance brokerages in the world. As a result, we are now looking to expand our Financial Services Team in line with our growth plans.
Job Overview
Financial Consultants work with individuals, families, and businesses to help these clients understand their financial circumstances and how to achieve their short & long-term financial objectives. Financial Consultants analyse relevant information and present realistic and meaningful recommendations based on their clients’ circumstances, needs, and objectives.
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensure the interests of clients and the integrity of the market is at the centre of the way you do business.
- Identify the needs and objectives of the client and provide best advice based on information gathered and research conducted.
- Treat clients fairly at all times.
- Act in a compliant and ethical manner at all times.
- Only process and share data for the purpose for which it was given.
- Treat client data with the utmost respect and confidentiality.
- At all times, adhere to regulatory and legislative rules, codes, guidelines, and all updates including:
- Minimum Competency Code
- Consumer Protection Code
- Fitness and Probity Standards
- Data Protection Legislation
- Prudential regulations
- Money Laundering and Financial Sanctions Legislation
Responsibilities
- Deliver on new income targets through the provision of ethical advice and offering ‘best in class’ solutions to clients in a fully compliant manner at all times.
- Develop and service existing First Ireland client relationships.
- Develop own new client relationships through contacts, networking, and market strategies.
- Develop relationships with assigned key referrers within First Ireland’s Business Insurance Division.
- Coach, train and support the referrers on a regular basis, to help identify clients of the Business Insurance Division that potentially have financial services needs that could be serviced by the Financial Services Division.
- Demonstrate and communicate market leading product knowledge in the areas of pensions, investment, and protection.
- Annual reviews and consultations to be carried out as required.
- Dealing with new business queries and enquires from existing customers as allocated by the Administration Team.
- Research the market for products and funds suitable to clients’ circumstances and needs.
- Build and develop strong 3rd party relationships with other professionals, such as accountants and solicitors to identify areas of potential mutual business interest.
- Conduct in-depth reviews with clients in order to accurately identify their financial needs and objectives.
- Analyse information and prepare plans best suited to individual clients’ objectives.
- Complete risk profile questionnaires where relevant and translate the results into meaningful recommendations for clients.
- Assist clients in making informed decisions.
- Review and respond to clients changing needs and financial circumstances.
- Produce market leading financial recommendations for clients.
- Contact clients with news of new financial products or changes to legislation that may affect their retirement, savings, protection, and investment goals where relevant.

- Positively engage with other team members/ staff, insurers, and clients at all times.
- Complete the appropriate annual CPD requirement and maintain Minimum Competency Code.
You will be required to be flexible in your position and must be prepared to undertake such other work as may be assigned to you by the company from time to time.
