3 things you need to watch on Netflix

Put the kids the bed, open that bottle of wine or put the kettle on and settle down because we have some great shows that you need to watch! Today I asked a few of our Netflix lovers what they are watching at the moment and this is how I compiled the list. These shows are definitely not for kids so don’t watch them while they are still in the living room. At the moment I am watching an episode of my favourite series at home every night and it is so addictive! Suits is back on TV at the end of the month and I can’t wait to see that too.

Our Recommendations

Aoife – Designated Survivor

I am hooked on this at the moment. There are two of us in the office watching it at home on Netflix and I can’t wait to sit down and watch it. Kiefer Sutherland is the lead character and he is so good in this! The storyline is about the American government in Washington DC. On the night of the state of the union the capital building was the scene of an explosion. The explosion killed the president and everyone in the line of presidential succession. Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland), Secretary of housing and urban development is the designated survivor and he takes on the role of president. He has the job of putting the government back together, finding the people responsible for the bombing and any other disasters that come his way.

Each episode leaves you in suspense, you just can’t wait to see the next one!

Aoife & Dave – The Siege of Jadoville

This is brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. I have recommended this film a few times and everyone seems to love it. It’s about a battalion of Irish peacekeepers who arrive at the UN compound near Jadotville in 1961 to protect its inhabitants at the start of a civil war in the Congo. The come under attack by the Katangese and mercenary troops over days and nights with no back up from Ireland or the UN. It’s a must watch.

Laura – Handmaid’s tale

This series is harrowing and intriguing; it’s kinda like something you hate to watch but I can’t stop watching it. After the civil war in, what used to be the United States of America, the totalitarian, Christian theonomic government of “Gilead” has imposed strict laws and rules dues to the shortage of births. The general storyline is that there hasn’t been a child born in years and the government take dramatic steps to preserve the fertility of women. It sounds weird but you just wait to see what happens. You follow each characters story and it shows how the characters got to where they are now. You wonder if the whole world is operating like this or is it just this state. We can’t put a youtube clip up because it’s a bit full on. It’s definitely not a series for everyone but I love it. Everyone is talking about it and I think it’s only available on Netflix US.
