Mairead’s Amazing Valentine Chocolate Brownies
We are always on the look out the the next ‘Great Sheridan Baker’ and our Commercial Team Leader Mairead has stepped up to the challenge. As some of you may be planning to dine at home this Valentines Day, this chocolate brownie recipe may come in very handy. Mairead says this recipe should come with a health warning as it is very chocolatey but that’s what makes them so tasty, right?!
Ingredients
Makes Approx. 25 Brownies
180g (6oz) Butter
200g (7oz) Dark Chocolate
3 Eggs
250g (9oz) Caster Sugar
110g (4oz) Plain Flour
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C/gas. Line the bottom of a baking tin (23 x 33cm) with greaseproof paper. Melt the butter & chocolate in a saucepan over a very low heat. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs & sugar. When the chocolate has melted, let it cool for a minute & then mix the eggs & sugar in the bowl. Stir in the flour & beat to combine.
Empty into the prepared tin & cook for 30-40 minutes (this depends on your oven). When cooked it should be crisp on top but still slightly fudgy inside. Cut into squares, and when it has cooled take out of the tin.
Hot Chocolate Sauce
200ml (7floz) Double Cream
200g Dark Chocolate, Chopped
1 dessert Spoon Brandy (optional)
Instructions
Pour the cream into a saucepan & bring to the boil. Add the chopped chocolate & stir until the chocolate has melted. Add the brandy. Remove from the heat & re-heat gently when needed.
Mairead’s Review
They are really easy to make. My boys can make them on their own!! They are nice served slightly warm with the chocolate sauce over them. The chocolate sauce keeps in the fridge also. Just reheat when needed. I use the chocolate from Lidl, Bellarom Rich Chocolate. I’ve used them as a dessert or just serve with tea/coffee.
They come with a health warning, full of sugar, butter & chocolate!!!!! Enjoy!
