‘Cartoon Saloon’ Nominated For Their Animated Film
Kilkenny based Irish Animation Studio ‘Cartoon Saloon‘ have received yet
another Oscar nomination for their animated feature film ‘Song Of The Sea’.
And I have to say, I’m absolutely blown away by the skill animation,
illustration and attention to detail. Make sure you watch the trailer below,
it’s an enchanting piece of Irish animation and brings you back to days in
school that we listened to Irish folklore.
Saoirse and Ben live with their father, a lighthouse keeper, on a small island.
Ben, who blames his sister for their mother’s death, is unaware that Saoirse,
like their mother, is a mythical sea creature known as a Selkie and is now
the last of her kind. As the characters come alive, you may recognise the
voices of some Irish performers including Lisa Hannigan, Brendan Gleeson,
Pat Shortt and Fionnuala Flanagan.
